Frequently Asked Questions
How many guests are allowed on our charters?
From two (2) guests to a maximum of six (6) guests are allowed per charter. You will not share a charter with people you do not know. ALL OF OUR CHARTERS ARE PRIVATE CHARTERS TAILORED TO YOUR GROUP.
For “Fishing Charters”, only four (4) guests will be permitted to fish at one time. On fishing charters, we normally have at least 4 - 6 lines in the water at a time. (Yes, the captains may throw a line out during your charter.) Only having four (4) guests per fishing charter allows each guest to better enjoy the experience especially when fish are hooked on multiple lines, which sometimes occurs. We can accommodate up to six (6) passengers on our vessel if there are other guests in the group who would like to just sit enjoy the day watching other guests fish. We have had guests switch from fishing to relaxing on our charters so everyone can enjoy the experience. So if you want to bring up to 6 people, just let us know.
For “Island Adventure Charters”, we understand some people have large families like we do with 7 children and 5 grandchildren. We want to accommodate large families or groups of friends. Our boat launch site in Ponce Inlet is close enough to accommodate two or three shuttles to inlet islands or disappearing island. If you want more than six (6) guests to enjoy island time with you, or you want to have a family celebration on one of the inlet islands or disappearing island, we can accommodate taking six (6) guests at one time and shuttle another group of six (6) guests to the same island for fun, enjoyment and relaxation. However, it is recommended you book a 3/4 or full day charter for this experience as shuttle times will take approximately 30 minutes for each group. If you book an island charter for a group of more than six (6) guests, please contact the Captain for specific details and pricing. No more than 12 guests for a 3/4 day island excursion or 18 guests for a full day island excursion can be accommodated due to time constraints.
For “Create Your Own Excursion” or “Love on the Water”, please contact the Captain for details and pricing. You can also click the “Excursion Ideas” page for additional information.
Are there any age restrictions? (WE WELCOME CHILDREN)
All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by his or her legal guardian or parent. We are a family oriented charter company and look forward to teaching children how to fish. In fact, we look forward to the excitement on your child’s face when catching his or her first fish! We have 5 grandchildren we take fishing often. Our fishing charters are for up to 6 adults. However, we welcome parents and single parents with children to easily accommodate three or four children with adults, if needed. Please let us know how many children you would like to bring at the time of booking.
How does incremental weather affect our charters?
For fishing charters, we fish in rain or shine and cold or warm weather. However, our guests’ safety is our top priority! If lightening occurs, we may need to end the charter. Some Florida storms tend to develop quickly and pass quickly. Our Captains are constantly checking live weather reports and have the latest technology to determine the path of a storm. There are many days when we can travel away from the path of a storm to fish. If a storm develops rapidly, it is always recommended to bring a lightweight rain jacket in the event this occurs. Captains Jim and Kim have spent many days on the water and are always equipped with lightweight rain gear. If a charter is cancelled due to incremental weather, please review our “Terms of Service” page for further information on cancellation of charters due to incremental weather. We will always work with our guests regarding incremental weather conditions, but whether rain or shine, our charters will proceed as planned unless we deem it unsafe for our guests. Remember, you have a Marine as one Captain and a lawyer as the other Captain, and your safety is our responsibility. We will always protect our guests! We will never put our guests in an unsafe experience. However, a dissatisfied weather experience during your excursion does not equate to an unsafe experience. Weather conditions do not cancel an excursion merely because guests deem it unsafe. The Captains have the ultimate discretion to cancel a charter for weather conditions. Again, please read thoroughly the “Terms of Service” page prior to booking.
Fishing charters, are you guaranteed to catch a fish?
NO, we do not offer the guarantee to catch fish like other charters. The reality of fishing is there’s some strategy combined with experience and a dose of luck, which on any given day can be a lot of luck or a little luck! We are experienced to know that no matter our experience or the tides. temperature of the water, depth of the water, place of the cast, time of year, storms, waves, direction of the fish, moon, etc.; we may have days when we catch fish, and then other days, no matter how experienced we are, we do not catch fish. However, we prepare your lines and provide the bait we know will catch fish for any given time of the year. Fishing requires patience with all other strategy and luck involved. Sometimes you catch fish and sometimes you don’t. Like all things in life, there’s a little bit of “luck”, “faith” or whatever you call it when catching fish. The one guarantee we can provide you is we WANT you to catch fish because we understand the thrill and excitement of reeling in your catch. Whether it is your first time fishing or you are fishing for your trophy catch, we will do every thing in our power to make it happen. If you want a fishing charter company that promises something more, we are sorry, we cannot provide the same guarantees. The reality is that some of the best fishermen don’t catch anything on any given day - no matter how hard they try. We promise to give it all we got!
Are there any physical limitations?
For offshore excursions, you should be in good physical condition. These boat rides can be bumpy. If you have any back injuries, leg injuries, neck injuries or any other per-existing physical injury which could be aggravated by bouncing around during a boat ride, you should consider an inshore fishing charter or excursion only. These charters are less strenuous for people with limited physical abilities. KNOW YOUR LIMITS! You will need to sign a waiver before any charter indicating you are of sufficient physical fitness to ride on any charter.
If you are prone to sea sickness, be sure to take Dramamine or other form of nauseous medicine at least 30 minutes to an hour before boarding your charter. We are not likely to return to port for seasickness. Again, KNOW YOUR LIMITS!
Do we offer drinks and snacks on our charters?
We always have bottled water on board and can offer snacks or cold lunch on board for an additionnal cost. Please bring your own preference of drinks, snacks or cold lunches on your charter, We have a cooler compartment to store food items. Only small bag coolers are allowed on board. No medium or large-sized hard coolers allowed on fishing charters. However, on island adventure or other charters you will be permitted to transport coolers of an average size, if necessary.
You may bring your own beer or wine drinks if you are 21 years of age or older. We will not tolerate any drunken or belligerent behaviors. We Captains have the right to terminate any charter if any guest on board our boat becomes verbally or physically abusive to any of the other guest or crew. We have a zero tolerance for verbal or physical threats toward any person. If any guest engages in any hostile behavior toward crew or guests, we WILL return to port and terminate the excursion. Proper authorities will be called, such as U.S.C.G., FWC, or local law enforcement, if necessary. Any guest who engages in verbal or physical attacks on any crew member or guest will be immediately removed from the charter and the charter will come to an immediate end and no one in your party will be subject to a refund.
What you need to bring?
For longer charters, please ensure to bring plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. Depending on the time of year and weather, wear appropriate clothing. If you sunburn easily, you should wear a lightweight, long sleeve ventilated fishing shirt. The following list of items is recommended: towel, sunscreen, hat, polarized sunglasses, non-slip rubber soled shoes, lightweight rain jacket, and any necessary medications.

What equipment do we provide for fishing charters?
Everything you need! We provide fishing licenses, bait, tackle, poles, line, jigs, etc. If you would like to bring your own fishing pole and small tackle box, please feel free.
Can we keep the fish we catch?
Every fish has a regulated size and catch limit. Therefore, it depends on the type of species you catch. We follow all rules and regulations. If you catch a fish you are able to keep, we will store it in our ice box, bring it back to the dock to filet for you. You will then be able to take the fish home to cook or bring the fish to one of the local restaurants who will cook it for you.
Is it customary to tip?
Yes. We are a service company. Just as you would ordinarily tip any other service provider, the custom is the same for charter companies. The customary tip in the service industry is 20%.
